The Mennonite Church and brethren church created a program for young adults to offer service and gain experience for up to three years. Many Mennonites have done this after finishing their school preparation for a career and starting that career. The experience of MVS includes living in shared quarters with shared housekeeping and maintenance responsibilities on a small budget. The program offers a minor amount of spending money to participants monthly. It is an opportunity to learn to live simply, together in an intentional community and to working serving / relating to people many Americans may not see.
