Rocky Mountain Peace and Justice Center
P.O.Box 1156, Boulder CO 80306303-444-6981Founded in 1983, the Rocky Mountain Peace Center has been a successful agent for social change and justice for more than 10 years. RMPC has provided education, training and leadership in areas such as nuclear disarmament, Central America, the Gulf War, Native American issues, war tax resistance, prisoner rights, group process, conflict resolution, peace keeper and civil disobedience training. Nonviolence in action and spirit is at the center of all this work. As a community, the Peace Center is made up of many people working on diverse issues and practicing nonviolence as they work. Decisions are made by consensus. Every effort is made to share power at all levels of the work. The Peace Center welcomes the participation of all people interested in working toward peace and justice. To become involved simply call RMPC at 303-444-6981 or drop in during office hours, 10am to 4pm, Monday through Friday.
Collectives are issue-oriented working groups which are central to the peace and justice work of the Peace Center. All are welcome. This is where the action is --- join us!
Middle East Action Group for Peace OPEN provides an outlet for people who want to better society directly through their communities, and who are searching for a means to do so. The Prisoner Rights Project This group works to end the use of the US prison system as a tool of racism and political oppression. The work focuses on shutting down US control-unit prisons, and freedom for all US political prisoners. A nationally circulated newsletter SHUT THEM DOWN for prisoner and outside activists is produces quarterly. DAG (Disarmament Action Group) DAG works towards a responsible nuclear free future. While maintaining a focus on clean-up and plutonium storage at Rocky Flats, this group seeks a permanent halt in the testing and production of nuclear weapons. Nonviolence Education Collective This group organizes, creates and conducts workshops on issues of nonviolence including conflict resolution, civil disobedience, and group process. In addition, this collective acts as a support and discussion group for those interested in nonviolence.
Members of the RMPC ($35 annual fee) receive a monthly calendar/newsletter. Members may participate in decision-making via the collectives or by serving on the spokescouncil or on one of the standing committees. By the way, all donations to RMPC are tax deductible; RMPC is a 501(c)3 independent non-profit organization supported by individual contributions. |
