Founded in 1983, the Rocky Mountain Peace Center has been a successful agent for social  change and justice for more than 10 years. RMPC has provided education, training and leadership in areas such as nuclear disarmament, Central America, the Gulf War, Native American issues, war tax resistance, prisoner rights, group process, conflict resolution, peace keeper and civil disobedience training. Nonviolence in action and spirit is at the center of all this work.

As a community, the Peace Center is made up of many people working on diverse issues and practicing nonviolence as they work. Decisions are made by consensus. Every effort is made to share power at all levels of the work. The Peace Center welcomes the participation of all people  interested in working toward peace and justice.

To become involved simply call RMPC at 303-444-6981 or drop in during office hours, 10am to  4pm, Monday through Friday.

dove  Collectives

Collectives are issue-oriented working groups which are central to the peace and justice work of the Peace Center. All are welcome. This is where the action is --- join us!

Middle East Action Group for Peace

This group meets to educate itself and the community  on Middle East issues, specifically focusing on the  Palestinian-Israeli conflict. The group works for  US policies which promote a just and lasting peace in  the region.

The Food Co-op

This group makes available to the people of the  Boulder Valley quality food at reasonable prices as  an expression of commitment to the environment and  the community. (Try the ``Equal Exchange'' coffee!)

OPEN (Outlet for People through Education and Nonviolence)

OPEN provides an outlet for people who want to better  society directly through their  communities, and who  are searching for a means to do so.

The Prisoner Rights Project

This group works to end the use of the US prison  system as a tool of racism and political  oppression.  The work focuses on shutting down US control-unit  prisons, and freedom for all US political prisoners.  A nationally circulated newsletter SHUT THEM DOWN for prisoner and outside  activists is produces  quarterly.

DAG (Disarmament Action Group)

DAG works towards a responsible nuclear free future.  While maintaining a focus on clean-up and plutonium  storage at Rocky Flats, this group seeks a permanent  halt in the testing and production of nuclear weapons.

Nonviolence Education Collective

This group organizes, creates and conducts workshops  on issues of nonviolence including  conflict resolution,  civil disobedience, and group process.  In addition, this collective acts as a support and  discussion group for those interested in nonviolence.
