Victim Offender Reconciliation Program

Boulder Mennonite began the Victim Offender Reconciliation Program (VORP)  in 1993, using a Mennonite Volunteer as a part time director.  As of fall, 1999, they have a half time paid director and a full time Mennonite Volunteer.  The program uses offices in the church and was founded as a Mennonite Church program by Mennonites in Kitchner, Ontario.

VORP helps victims voice their grievances and bring about closure, and it provides the offender some insight into how their  actions affected someone else's life.  Mediators help victims and offenders meet face to face, and agree on a reconciliation plan, where the offender pays monitary damages or agrees to perform community  service.  The offenders also sign a contract agreeing not to offend again.

BMC Members Rich Williams and Lisa Nafzinger (on and MVS  assignment) now serve as the Program Director and Program Manager of VORP.
