Current Small Groups

The Gardening Group

Meet at BMC, spring-fall as the garden permits.

The group will be for people who enjoy gardening or want to learn more gardening skills; seed-starting, weeding, edible weeds, harvesting, storing, etc.  We will plan, plant, and maintain the garden behind the church, getting to know each other in the process.  Discussions may center on exploring the miracle of the earth and connecting with God through nature.

BMC Gardening GroupOur service will be contributing the produce to organizations that provide food to people in need, such as Community Food Share, BOHO, and organizations serving the homeless.

Spanish Potluck Night

Meeting the 3rd Sunday of the month, 5pm, at the Albanese' residence in Wheat Ridge

This small group will be a time of fellowship for any person wanting to practice and improve their conversational Spanish skills and is open to all ability levels.  We will share a meal and try our best to converse only in Spanish.  Anyone who is fluent in Spanish need only bring themselves and a little patience for the rest of us, and everyone else should bring a willing attitude and a dish to share.  Each meal will be themed around a particular Spanish-speaking culture and some educational information about that country will be offered.

Sunday Supper Drop-In

Sunday evening, 1-2 times per quarter, dates to be announced, often in Niwot

Join us for a strictly social evening:  drop-in supper, informal fellowship, and possibly some game playing.  Main dish provided by hosts and side dishes provided by guests.  This gathering meets ad hoc, some seasons more often than others.  Times and meeting places will be announced.  It may appeal to folks who do not take the time for a formal commitment to a BMC small group but still wish to connect socially with BMC members and friends.  All are welcome!

Centering Prayer, Mindfulness, and Meditation

Meet 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month 11am-12:15, at the Millers' home (2000 Dartmouth Ave, Boulder) or at church

What do the Buddhist tools of mindfulness and meditation have in common with Christian Centering Prayer?  How do they differ?  Together we will explore and experience these two tools which can enhance our Christian spirits, sharpen our mental faculties, improve our emotional and physical health, and help us sense oneness with our Creator and all creation.  Welcome--let's explore together.  A service project will be decided by the group.
